4-DAY-PROJECT: LUNGS

Currently working on my very first uni project. The brief asks us to work in a group of 5 or 6 people in order to explain a human body organ in a visual and entertaining way. Our group has 6 people (Hari, Gabi, David, Kerry, Chardy and me) and we've got to work on the LUNGS! I've been doing a bit of research and on the way, this song called Between two Lungs by Florence and The Machine just stuck in my head. Still have 1 more day to go and then the crit on Friday. Gotta try my/our best.

FAVOURITE PHOTOGRAPHER 2: MAI-PHUONG TRINH

I know this girl by looking around on Facebook. She's a friend of friend. I have been 'watching' her for a while and truly think that she's absolutely talented, especially at this young age. She's only 19 and already has quite a body of works. I love it even more when she uses film instead of digital. There is always something in her photos that I can't exactly find the words to describe. A sense of mood. You feel it and it's just that. At least, that's how her photos appear to me.

BETES DE MODE by HELMO

Bete de Mode is a photographic installation for Galleries Lafayette created by Helmo (a graphic design firm based in Paris, France) in collobration with Thomas Dimetto. The fashion portraits in blue print (taken by Laurent Croiser) layers on the animal portraits which is in red print (taken by Christophe Urbain). I think it's purely beautiful and absolutely clever. And I'm even more excited when I know that the scale of these installation is 5 * 8 meters!

[BIRDY] SHELTER

I didn't realize that the one who sings Skinny Love and Shelter is the same person: Birdy. She's amazing. Her voice touches my soul. Listening to her is more like breathing the fresh air in. Lovely. Tender. Sweet. The video clip is so simple but just right. I love the mood in the whole video.

MAGMA: PRINTED MATTER by KAREL MARTENS

I went to Magma twice and I have to say that the book shop is quite lovely. I have that feeling of going back there for more inspiration. There were quite few books that appealled to me. One of them is Printed Matter by Karel Martens. I love the material as it is printed on uncoated paper and Chinese-bound. The book itself is already pretty and inspiring. I also like the informal caption written in this book. The layout is fun too as images and texts just randomly float on the page but still in order which I love. But yea, I didn't buy the book as the cost is not so cheap and I'm not even sure if it's that practical, so instead I bought The 3D Type Book by FL@33. By the way, I'm so in love with the sandwich bar near by. My favourite chicken and bacon sandwich was only less then 2 pounds and it tastes superatively great (compared to its price). Definitely going back!

THE FUTURE: IN TEN YEARS TIME,

I don't know exactly what I will be in the next ten years. For me, it's a long road and you never know what could ever happen. I'll be a graphic designer either working as a freelancer or having my own bussiness. I'll be a wife and probably a mother too. I'll go back to Vietnam or Australia or stay here, in London. Or maybe, I'll move to a new country? I'll have short or long hair. I'll wear denim a lot. I'll have little garden in my house where I could lay on the grass and watch the clouds passing by. I'll have a good book, a cuppa tea and smile at the life I've been given.

DESIGN BLOGS/WEBSITES

SERPENTINE GALLERY PAVILLION

Came here with my Oz and my classmates from IIF. I have to say that I like it lot. Again, for me, it's all about the space and atmosphere. I felt in love with the space as soon as I step inside and have my eyes wondering all around. I enjoyed sitting there inside the pavillion, designed by the world renowned Swiss architect Peter Zumthor, have a cup of hot choc, watch the sky and 'smell' the flowers. I also really like the bulbs hanging around this black box. That's kind of the thing I would like to have in my future garden.

THINGS I DON'T MISS ABOUT HOME

Apart from my family and the food, I would probably say that I don't miss anything else there. I don't even feel the sense of belonging with that place called home.

FACT ABOUT ME 7: I think Purple is ugly

Personally, I think Purple is the ugliest color ever! Well, but again, I have to admit that I have used purple in my work/design once or twice. There could be a chance I use it for my works but never think of me wearing purple. Maybe I would wear it someday or I might change my point of view. At least, I can't stand for this color at the moment. By the way, I don't seem to have any troubles with 'purple people' those who love this terrible color heaps even though I hate the color itself. I already could count tons of people I know who like purple, Mom, my two best friends and yea, pretty much everyone likes purple I guess since it's quite 'an-inbetween-color'.

VICTORIA & ALBERT MUSEUM

I got this brief during International Intensive Foundation: Art & Design course. The brief is to make an advertising campaign for either Natural History Museum or The V&A that appeals to 18 - 25 year olds.

V&A Museum was chosen as I didn't find any interest in visiting Natural History Museum second time and would not suggest it to any of people my age.

So I had to think of the easiest/cheapest/most efficent way to advertise the museum. I decided to create a Vlog entry competition which asks Vloggers/Youtubers to make a short video to share their personal experience at The V&A. In order to win the competition, Vloggers have to promote their video themselves to get the most votes as they possibly could. In other word, the V&A got promoted for free. And as the prize, the winner will get free membership at the V&A, their video will be shown at an event run by the museum (eg.Friday Late), on official V&A webpage and Youtube page.

A stop-motion-animation (which will be uploaded on Youtube and advertised on other networking pages) came up as the final solution.

FACT ABOUT ME 6: I smile whenever I see a happy couple

Yea, I know it sounds kinda strange but probably this weird reaction comes from the romantic side of me. Every single time I see a couple holding hands or kissing (well, not cuddling right on the street though!), I smile. No matter how young or old the couple are. As long as I see them eyes shining, I smile. And it's just that even though it's also little bit sad while I'm the one who's not in love!

ONE DAY

FACT ABOUT ME 5: Banksy is my hero

FACT ABOUT ME 4: I am an auntie!

You might be thinking what is so big about having a niece. Well, for me, it means quite lot.
The day I knew that my sister was pregnant, I was a bit scared. I don't know. I wasn't used to it. There was something not exactly right.
But as soon as I saw her, I realized how much love I got to give her. She is my little princess. She is my 'daughter'. I get hurt when she falls. I'm in pain when she cries.
What I get from having her in my life is responsibility. I have to live my life as I wish she would live her life. I have to think twice cause I don't want her to ever make the same mistakes that I did. Everything I do today, I have to consider carefully so someday I can be proud enough to teach her a little more or less about the wonderful world we're living in.
For a moment, I feel like a mother, a real one.
Thank Kem for being there cause when you smile, I smile too.

QUIRKY WEBSITES

1. URBAN DICTIONARY
- Well, you can pretty much search everything you want. I've already found my name and my friends' name and cities and such. For some unknown reasons, I actually find the definition kinda right!

2. SHOES OF PREY
- Where you can design your own shoes and fit your own size! I have found this website long time ago but haven't got a chance to order one pair for myself due to the lack of balance on my credit card!
